January 12, 2026 – Letter From Our Superintendent

Dear Parents, Caregivers, and Families, and Students,

I am reaching out to inform you that this morning a small pocket knife was self-reported and confiscated from a student in the high school. At no time were there any issues, concerns, or any threats made, and the incident was handled swiftly by the administration with no disruption.

Pursuant to new state requirements effective in January with Act 44 of 2025 (Weapons Notification), any weapons found on school property will include prompt notification to our parents and employees. A weapon is defined, but not limited to, any knife, cutting instrument, cutting tool, nun-chuck stick, firearm, shotgun, rifle, and any other tool, instrument, or implement capable of inflicting serious bodily harm.

This incident is a reminder that weapons of any kind, including a small pocket knife, are not permitted on school property.

Thank you for your continued support as we work to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for our students.

Sincerely,

Mr. Brice N. Benson
Superintendent
