History and Purpose

The National Honor Society was founded in 1921 as a national organization to recognize individuals who have proven their ability as scholars and shown their devotion to their Alma Mater in their actions. The purpose of this organization shall be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools. Only those who comply with the rigid standards of the local school honor society council and the equally demanding standards of the national council may be inducted as members.
